Forbidden City Tour to Bangkok 6th April 2012

Christmas is coming. For religion of another sort, here’s a little update for those dreaming of a Bangkok Easter…

Easter weekend is April 6-9, UK/HK etc public holiday.
Qingming Tomb Sweeping is April 5-7, official China holiday.
GAS Bangkok Far Easter Tour is April 7-8  – see the 2011 rules attached.

The tournament is played at Pattana School on beautiful grass pitches and is an 11 a-side, 11 min-half, no off-side, bonus for 3 goals open to all cup played over two days.

I’ve looked at some flights, Thai is looking good, as always.

FOR THOSE WITH LESS TIME:
1. TG615 FRI 06/04/12 PEK-BKK 17:05 – 21:20
2. TG674 SUN 08/04/12 BKK-PEK 23:50 – 05:30

OR WITH MORE TIME:
1. TG615 WED 04/04/12 PEK-BKK 17:05 – 21:20
2. TG614 MON 09/04/12 BKK-PEK 10:10 – 15:50

These flights are daily and at the moment all the same price
Total Price: ¥ 3,240

Or with Air China maybe a little cheaper
1. CA979 WE04APR PEK-BKK 1935 2340
2. CA980 MO09APR BKK-PEK 0100 0630
Total Price: ¥ 2,990

There are flights with Air Asia from Shenzhen to Bangkok for ¥ 1,900 (or from Macao for ¥ 1,200 !), but then you have to get there.
HOTELS
You can book a nice spacious apartment hotel like the Grand President for ¥ 360 per night for a double.
Or just around the corner you can have a the DS67 Suites, with rooms for up to 4 people, for B2,500, that works out as ¥ 130, per person, per night.
These places are on Sukhumvit Soi 11 / Soi 13.

Not forgetting social spending and a tournament entry fee (maybe RMB300 each depending on numbers), you can work out how much you need to budget for this trip. I suppose realistically if you book flights soon, the minimum will be ¥ 5,000

Let me know what people think, date wise, hotel wise and I will then start collecting deposits. Of course, I am up for suggestions if others want to do some planning as well.

Forbidden City Tour to Bangkok 6th April 2012

Hello All,

While we at Forbidden City bombard you with emails, delete the rest, this is the most important!

The Easter weekend of April 6th 2012 is the German All Stars 11 a-side (and 7 a-side veterans) football tournament in the delightful city of Bangkok. We will be taking a full squad of footballers and party-goers.

So for those:
- Poor students: start saving those Renminbi to convert into 5 times the amount of baht.
- Busy executives: book the time off work, or even better, book a work trip to Bangkok the week before.
- Under the thumb: start making the excuses to the wives and/or girlfriends and promise her lot’s of nice things (even a week’s holiday on a Thai beach starting on Monday 9th April!).
- Ex-Beijinger’s: come and meet up in Bangkok for the weekend, you can’t have a better excuse (especially a short hop from Hong Kong, Phuket or Singapore – you know who you are!).

All are welcome for a great weekend of football and partying (and even some like Philippe may bring girlfriends too).

Save the Date!

Get involved!

Yours,
Pikey
Tour Captain

7-aside all-day Tournament Saturday August 13th

Hello Lads,

Some of you may have heard that a select Forbidden City FC team is taking part in the BTV Cup, a summer competition for the various league winners in Beijing.  Their first group game is on Saturday 13th August at 9am.  Support is welcome.  Depending how City progress, later games will be shown live on BTV.

But that doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t have fun!

We are entering at least one team (depending on response) in a friendly 7 a-side all day tournament played on real grass (a rarity in Beijing!) at Dulwich School in Shunyi, Saturday August 13th.  This should be a fun day out with a number of games against around six other Beijing teams with a BBQ and cold beers available throughout the day.

- Fun day with football and BBQ.
- Grass pitches at Dulwich College
- All day tournament, 13th August 11am-4pm
- Competitive teams.
- All players old and new encouraged to take part.
- Cost less than ¥100 per person.
Read more info below.

Please let me know YES/NO. Do it now.

Get involved.

Thanks,
Pikey

FCFC Boys!As most of you know, there is an 11-a-side football tournament coming up on the 23rd and 24th of April, 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand!!!FCFC have booked a slot to play, but we have to pay a deposit as confirmation by the beginning of March. In order to do this we need to have at least 12 people confirmed and therefore we will need confirmations of attendees by the end of February. So basically it is now or never boys! Those who have responded before, please reconfirm as to your confirmed interest in attending. Those sitting on the fence now need to make a decision. As a basic guide to costs, see below:Hotel Room – A double is ¥ 260, split between two.Flights – THAI Air flights around ¥3,389. If we all fly on the same flight, there may be group discounts available and other flight options may be cheaper.Match – The match entry fee is around ¥5,000 including getting tour t-shirts made, etc, split between however many players we get.Based on those estimates and 12 players, it will cost ¥ 4,000 before beer/lady boy money. When we have enough people confirmed we will then arrange the itinerary of flight details, deposits and passport numbers etc. Due to people working, students etc. different flight dates will be available and feel free to ask if you have any other questions that you need answers to before you make your decision. Please feel free to invite some other friends that would like to take part, the more the merrier! It would be great to get an FCFC team there this year, so lets do it guys and REPLY NOW!!!Blythe
