7-aside all-day Tournament Saturday August 13th

Hello Lads,

Some of you may have heard that a select Forbidden City FC team is taking part in the BTV Cup, a summer competition for the various league winners in Beijing.  Their first group game is on Saturday 13th August at 9am.  Support is welcome.  Depending how City progress, later games will be shown live on BTV.

But that doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t have fun!

We are entering at least one team (depending on response) in a friendly 7 a-side all day tournament played on real grass (a rarity in Beijing!) at Dulwich School in Shunyi, Saturday August 13th.  This should be a fun day out with a number of games against around six other Beijing teams with a BBQ and cold beers available throughout the day.

- Fun day with football and BBQ.
- Grass pitches at Dulwich College
- All day tournament, 13th August 11am-4pm
- Competitive teams.
- All players old and new encouraged to take part.
- Cost less than ¥100 per person.
Read more info below.

Please let me know YES/NO. Do it now.

Get involved.

Thanks,
Pikey

G12: FCFC vs Azzurri

Citizens,Well done Saturday, a cracking display from all involved. It’s that togetherness that will keep us going till the end of the season!Stats website down so here’s a few game facts:Team:55′ A good move on the left led to a good switch from Ivan for Fabio on the right. The ghanean Wonder crossed it low for Ivan to finish off with ease. 1-065′ Useless foul from Philippe 40 yards out: the Fortuna centre back hit a tricky ball in the box and their striker with the slightest of touches put our rivals back in the game. 1-172′ Blythe hit a good corner, Both Ivan and Philippe double headed the ball in – Ex-poneytail man Ivan claimed it with a more enthusiastic celebration.2-182′ Blythe hussled the ball off their centre backs – clean through, 15 yards out and with only the keeper to beat, the Spurs man finished them off with a typical blythesque scuffed shot accross the goal. Boom. 3-1MOM: Blythe big game at the back – 1 assist – and 1 goal after a 5 minute stint up frontDOM: Ivan forgeting to bring the Donkey hat + his little yelp of agony and dismay after seeing his man get subbed. His girlfriend was not impressed. This coming Sunday we play against Azzurri, a team we know well. These kind of games are equally important, we need to win and keep our nerves. In fact, the first round of beers is on me if we manage a win and 0 yellow/red cards. So Sunday 12pm Kick Off Lido pitch ARE YOU AVAILABLE? please RSVP NOWCITY!!!Philippe

G16: Summer Palace vs Lao Hu Internazionale

Palace,Please find below:1- a short match report of our last game played vs Shenzhen Development Bank2- the match schedule for April and updated stats3- the team call for our next game.1- Match Report for Summer Palace vs Shenzhen Dev Bk (played on Saturday 19th March): We kept going our winning streak, now extended to 6 win in a row, but it was not that easy. We started the game very well, pilling pressure on their defence especially attacking the wings with Ally and Ben making great runs. We were rewarded by Ally scoring the first goal thanks to Matt harassing their central defenders. We however missed quite a few good chances and Shenzhen started to have more of the ball especially in midfield. Fortunately, they did not create good chances and seldom threaten to score. 1-0 at half time. The second half started more or less the same way the first finished but clever coaching from Chris (or Lee?) ended the stalemate. Old-school, Lao Cui came in for the last 30 minutes and made the difference with assists for Ally then for Matt Costello to make the final score 3-0. Matt Costello scored his 8th goal of the season and he’s now our top goal-scorer. It was also his last game for us. Well done Matt and good luck in Singapore (keep your “gold” kit, you’ll be back in Beijing playing football sooner than you expect). Overall, it was a good team performance, with solid defending and good passing.2- the schedule for the next 5 games is now online:Saturday, 26.03.2011 14:00 Chaoyang Stadium League 1st Div Summer Palace Lao Hu InternazionaleSunday, 03.04.2011 14:00 Chaoyang Stadium League 1st Div Summer Palace Beijing Celtics 02Saturday, 09.04.2011 12:00 Chaoyang Stadium League 1st Div Summer Palace French LE BSaturday, 16.04.2011 16:00 Chaoyang Stadium League 1st Div Summer Palace Azzurri FC BSaturday, 30.04.2011 12:00 Chaoyang Stadium League 1st Div Summer Palace Dragons3- This Saturday 26th of March we are playing the high-school team Lao Hu Internazionale (=WAB). G15: Summer Palace vs Shenzhen Dev Bank

Palace,We had a tough game last Saturday, beating a strong Barbarians team 3-1. We played very well at the start of the game, creating several good chances and taking the lead early on. Manuel scored the first goal with a long range shot, then a second from close range after their keeper had parried a couple of shots. Our third goal came from a good cross by Jason Dorey that Matt Costello did well to convert into a goal by tackling the ball passed their keeper. However even at 3-0 down the Barbs were still dangerous and got one back just before half-time. In the 2nd half we had very few chances to add a goal and had to spend most of the time defending, with Stefan making a couple of good saves to deny their strikers. We hold on and finally won 3-1.Well done to all 17 players involved, especially Manuel (voted Man-of-the-Match for his 2 goals) and Edouard (voted Donkey for, it seems(?), no reason). This coming Saturday, 19th March, we are playing the Chinese side Shenzhen Development Bank. Kick off is scheduled for 4 PM and the venue is as usual Chaoyang Stadium. Shenzhen Bank currently ranks low in the league table but we should be cautious as we could only managed a draw (3-3) against them earlier this season.Who is available?PatrickPS: Training session as usual on Wednesday evening, 8-10PM at the Side Gongyuan pitch near the Lido
