INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP FOOTBALL CLUB

SEASON 06/07

Dear IFFC-members,

The season has ended with with Game 18 and on this Cup Final weekend we had some important make up matches so the season ended with decisions in the Second & Third Division, BUT with another two make up matches (one make up also in the Third Division) the decision for relegation in the First Division is still undecided. I finished the Game 18 reports late on Thursday, but deceided to wait until this weekend’s results to include in this newsletter with the hope that all deceisive decisions would have been made..., the IFFC Cup Final report between Afrika Utd. Vs. F. City FC will be included into the next newsletter.
In the First Division Afrika Utd. Clinched its third championship title in a row (congrats & big respect from all the teams here!) and are the new & old champions. The second spot was deceided with the
Peking Strollers win over the Russians while Fortuna 94 clinched barely Third place with their win in the make up match against the Vikings, leaving Sexy FC, French LE & Russia Utd. behind. Cup finalists Forbidden City FC saved themselves due to a great May performance and are ready for the Cup Final this Sunday afternoon. BUT since both the Japanese X2 and the Vikings both lost and are still level on points the last decision who will relegate along with the Celtics to the Second Division is still open. The Vikings are currently 9th but still have a very last chance if they are able to take one point of the French LE-Vikings make up match. It’s too bad that the X2/Teppen side have to wait for a week, but there is no other way right now.
In the Second Division we saw a clear march through from Athletico who are the first IFFC team to have won all their matches in one complete season. They ended untouched 1st rank with 18 wins out of 18 matches, 72 goals scored while only 15 received, meaning that they had the best offence and the best defence. Athletico follows in the footsteps of the Red Cards and are the second team who won the Third Division and directlty won the Second Division to qualify for next year’s First Division. Congrats lads, good job ! The second rank Barbarians A (who last season were unlucky third behind X2 and Forbidden City FC) were clear on second spot with 38 points (10 points far in front of the Third). Third rank surprisingly went to the Red Cards who managed to overtake the Celtics in the last round with a victory in their make up match against the Drifters.
In the Third Division, Italy FC almost could level the Athletico newly set record, but due to a tie with the Celtics, the Italians won “only” 17 matches with one tie. Newly formed Italy FC had a spectacular season and will be a main favorite in next year’s Second Division which will be much stronger next season. Todd Entner’s Renda FC (he and Renda FC play now for over 10 years within the IFFC!) took a clear second spot. Azzurri FC on 3rd and the Barbarians B on 4th will follow the top two teams into next year’s Second Division. The Celtics Gold C side ended on 5th and will also follow the pack due that
China Star wants to play in a lower (easier) division next season. Altogether this means that next year’s second division will be very competetive and is ensured a full season unlike this one.
This season in the Second & Third Division we saw many pull outs along with some teams beeing expelled so that both seasons having just two, three games on a weekend. That is unacceptable and incase we are more than 20 teams, the IFFC plans to enlarge the leagues into 12 teams each to ensure a full fledged season. In case we have close to 30 teams, the IFFC & its Supervisory Board will deceide then how many teams in how many divisions shall be playing next season.
Now the winners ceremony is deceided and it will be held after the Super Cup Final on June 2nd/3rd. It will be announce next week when the finalists are clear and its deceided on the Saturday or Sunday. We are planning to organize some BBQ right next to the offices at the
Lido Park Pitch after the game. All winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd), Top Scorer, Best Player, Best Goalkeeper & Fair Play Cup from the First, Second and Third Division will be awarded their prices at the ceremony.
Currently I am checking all match reports in order to find out the number of participating players of all 18 league matches incl. the players who took part in the IFFC Cup/Super Cup. Each team will be aproached to confirm the final list for the final accounting of the player registration.
The IFFC Supervisiory Board continued last Wednesday with their work for next season. New update rules & regulations, a disciplinary committee and new statutes are the main focus in the upcoming weekends. Also in the medical issue & insurance issue progress shall be made. I ask again one more time to each IFFC member who wants to contribute good ideas and points for the future to contact me & Jason (IFFC Supervisory Committee Secretary). We hope for positive and creative ideas from each single one of you so we can upgrade next season as much as possible. Please send e-mails to iffc@ecic.de or jason_muhl@yahoo.com.
OK guys, the IFFC Cup Final report will follow in the next newsletter. Now here you go with the latest news from all the leagues.

Cheers,

Robert

NEXT MATCH: MAKE-UP

French LE vs. Vikings (G12)
Peking Strollers vs. F. City FC (G15)

GAME 13:

Vikings vs. Russia Utd. 1:7 (0:4)

The Vikings are in the free fall and it seems that there aint no stop. In this make up match against a determined Russian side, the Vikings were chanceless and lost high 1:7. Man of the match was Russia Utd.’s Nils who scored four goals (25., 41., 52. & 68.). Team leader Igor added two (37. & 68.) while his teammate Nickolay scored one goal (45.). For the Vikings who are struggling to get a team out to play it waas Brian (80.) who scored the goal of honour.

GAME 15:

Fortuna 94 vs. Vikings 3:1 (0:0)

The Vikings pulled their last reserved together as good they could pull the team together and played a good match against Fortuna 94. It was very hot weather and the match was not the highest level... but the Vikings pushed into the Fortuna half onto the Fortuna goal without success. After a goalless first half, the second half continued with the Vikings putting pressure to finally score. In the whole second half, Fortuna (who also had some kinda emergency line up) had four chances and were able to score three goals: Tim struck twice (49. & 56.) and Figo (80.) added another one. The Vikings who  scored inbetween the 2:1 through Brian (63.) just could not level the match, out of luck! Now next week is the last chance to gain a saving point out of the French match, otherwise relegation. Good luck guys !

X2/Teppen vs. French LE 2:3 (1:1)

It was an hard fought match till the end and an early red card against X2’s Tigainn (21.) could have been deceisive here, since then the Japanese played with just 10 men in the very hot weather. X2 took an early lead through Shyunn (7.) which French LE’s Fabien (15.) equalized eight minutes later for the 1:1 halftime score. In the second half the French LE were the stronger side and manage to add two more goals through Abu (57.) and Axel (85.) while the Japanese only could pull one back through Kigeki (56.) for the final 2:3 French LE victory over X2. Next week the French LE plays the Vikings in the make up match and the Japanese hope that the French will win so they can remain in the First Division. The French LE have motivation enough, cause with a win over the Vikings they still can manage to pass Sexy FC for the 4th rank. Also here good luck guys !

GAME 17:

Vikings vs. Sexy FC 0:4 (0:1)

Both teams were struggling for players, but due to the end of the season this match had to go ahead. In the first half Sexy FC’s Jamie score the 0:1 (28.) halftime lead. In the second half his teammates Max (69.) and Rusky (80.) added one goal each and then Jamie ended the match with his second goal in the match (90.) to make it 0:4. Sexy FC still stays on 3rd rank while the Vikings desperatly need some points.

GAME 18:

F. City FC vs. Vikings 6:1 (2:1)

It was a deceisive match for both sides and at the end Forbidden City FC emerged as the clear winner. The City FC boys ensured next year’s First Division participation while the Vikings still have to struggle with X2 for the last spot. F. City FC’s Jonny White scored the 1:0 (25.), then five minutes later Viking’s Bo equalized (30.) for 1:1. Then five minutes from halftime City FC’s Philippe Healey scored the 2:1 halftime lead. Until that point it the Vikings still need to rally for one goal, but the opposite happened. The strong playing Forbidden City FC gave the Vikings a football lesson and added four more goals within just ten minutes: Jonny White’s second goal for 3:1 (60.), Renato for 4:1 (62.), Luca Merlone (65.) for 5:1 and Jonny White’s third goal for 6:1 (70.).

Sexy FC vs. Celtics A 2:2 (1:2)

The relegated Celtics side gave Sexy FC a hard time and edged off one point from the “sexy” lads. In the first half Celtic’s Dave Fairburn scored the 0:1 lead (36.) and Derek Swan added a goal (40.) for 0:2 four minutes later. Two minutes from the break Sexy FC’s striker Max pulled one back (43.) for the 1:2 halftime score. In the second half Max scored his second goal (70.) to equalize the match 2:2. For the Celtics this point comes too late since they are already relegated, for Sexy FC this tie is crucial since now arch rivals Fortuna 94 can pass them for 3rd rank with a win or tie over the Vikings in the make up match next week.

Afrika Utd. vs. X2/Teppen 9:1 (3:0)

Only thanks to the Japanese X2 side, the Vikings have still their chances of survival in the First Division. Both teams are currently loosing their matches and its goal difference which might deceide which division next year will be played with X2 and the Vikings. The champions Afrika Utd. showed no mercy and just overrolled the Japanese 9:1. Afrika Utd. Zhang Bo scored three goals (29., 85. & 87.) while his teammates Surprise (20. & 23.), Jones (54. & 85.) and Adam (65. & 82.) added two goals each to make it nine goals for the new and old champion. X2’s N. Shun scored the only goal for his side (59.) in the second half. The Afrika Utd. side seems ready to rock’n’roll in the upcoming Cup Final next Sunday.

Peking Strollers vs. Russia Utd. 3:1 (1:1)

With the win over the Russians, Peking Strollers secured this year’s second rank of the First Division and in case of an African victory in the Cup Final against Forbidden City FC, the Strollers go into the Super Cup played in two weeks time. It was a hard well earned victory, in the first half Guillume scored the 1:0 lead (20.) which ten minutes later Russia Utd.’s Timur equalized for the 1:1 (30.) halftime score. In the second half the match continued to be tie for quite some time, but the Strollers had the stronger will at the end winning the game: Tom Cattanach for 2:1 (75.) and five minutes later Jan scored the 3:1 (80.) ten minutes from time.

French LE vs. Fortuna 94 0:1 (0:1)

It was not the highest quality of football, but a very tense and close match were Fortuna at the end was the lucky winner through a goal from Karim (15.) in the first half. Despite Fortuna missing a penalty kick, the French LE team was the better side and missed many clear chances in both halfves. At the end Fortuna defended well while the French were just denied to score. With this score Fortuna still has the chance to reach 3rd, while the French LE only still can reach 4th rank.

NEXT MATCH:

GAME 17:

Red Cards vs. Beijing Drifters 2:1 (0:1)

This make up match was like the 3rd place final (due to the Celtic’s tie in the last match against the  Babarians) and each half of the match had an own winner. In the first half the Drifters took the lead through a goal from Paschales (21.) for the 0:1 halftime lead. In the second half the Japanese turned around the match and Red Card’s substitute player Goeku was the man of the match. He turned around the score with two goals (54. & 60.) scored withing six minutes and suddenly it was 2:1 for the Japanese which remained also the final score. The Red Cards made it to 3rd while the Drifters ended 6th rank, just two points behind the Japanese.

GAME 18:

Beijing Drifters vs. Beida China 3:0

Due to Beida China’s previous behaviour the match was not played and awarded 0:3 to the Beijing Drifters. Rupert told me last week on the phone to mention that they had a really good match & time with China Star in the previous match. Not all Chinese sides are the same and China Star had a good season and was an enrichment to the league, unlike Beida China.

Babarians A vs. Celtics B 1:1 (0:1)

For the Barbarians it was quite a tough last game and it ended with a 1:1 draw; it did not matter to them since they already qualified for next year’s first division, but for the Celtics who wanted to get third it was crucial. In the first half it seemed like that the Celtics would make it, thanks to the 0:1 halftime lead by a goal from Dave Fairburn (7.) in the early minutes of the match. In the second half the match remained close and then Barbarians player Matt Arnold was able to equalize the match 1:1 (70.). In the last twenty minutes both sides were not able to score and the match remained 1:1 till the end. Due to the Red Card’s win over the Drifters, the Celtics lost the third rank to the Japanese with just one point difference.

Yellow River vs. Athletico 0:3

Yellow River is out from further competition.

Changda vs. Red Cards 0:3

Changda does play the rest of the season with other IFFC players and each game of the second round will count 0:3 to the opponent.

China Star vs. Snickers FC 3:0

Snickers FC was unable to put a team out at the end and therefore China Star took the points.

NEXT MATCH: MAKE-UP

Thumb Korea vs. Beijing Rockers (G10)

GAME 14:

Italy FC vs. Thumb Korea 5:1 (3:1)

The Italians kept their unbeaten record with a clear 5:1 victory over the Thumb Korea side. Thumb Korea took a sudden 0:1 lead through Noh (20.), but that was all the Koreans could do today. Italy FC’s answer came promt: Joseph (22.), Carlo (42.) and Ricardo scored the 3:1 halftime lead. In the second half Enrico (50.) and Dieter (89.) added one more goal each for the final 5:1 victory of Italy FC over Thumb Korea. Next weekend the newly crowned champs meet the First Division champions Afrika Utd and are ready !

Azzurri FC vs. Beijing Rockers 6:2 (4:1)

Azzurri FC ensured themselves a clear third place rank with this victory over the Beijing Rockers. In the first half Alfredo (14.), Valerio (21.), Salvo (30.) and Alvise (35.) scored for the 4:1 halftime lead. For the Rockers it was Chao scoring in both halves one goal (35. & 75.). In the second half Azzurri FC’s Chicco (56.) and Mimmo (65.) added one more goal each for the Azzurri FC side.

GAME 18:

Renda FC vs. 21 C Korea 3:0

21 C Korea does play the rest of the season with other IFFC players and each game of the second round will count 0:3 to the opponent.

Thumb Korea vs. Hong Kong Utd. 3:0

Hong Kong Utd. team pulled out from this season.

Beijing Rockers vs. Italy FC 1:7 (0:5)

This year’s champions Italy FC gave the Rockers one football lesson, winning clearly 1:7 over the Chinese musicians in this match.  The team sheet got wet and the time was unlear of the goals (sorry guys), but the scorers are clearly stated: Italy FC’s team leader Carlo struck 4 goals, Enrico added two goals and Joseph scored one goal for the champions. For the Rockers it was Ya Xiang Dong who scored in the second half. Italy FC is ready for the showdown in this year’s Super Cup against the mighty Afrika Utd.. Last year the Third Division champions (Athletico) had bad luck loosing by just one goal, so Italy FC had nothing to loose in the upcoming play offs.

Azzurri FC vs. BTS Korea 94 3:0

BTS Korea 94 cancelled the match last minute and Azzurri FC was awarded this 3:0 victory which make the Azzurris 3rd place in this year’s Third Division.

Celtics Gold C vs. Babarians B 2:1 (0:1)

What an irony! In the second division both upper sides met and it was the Barbarian A side who took away the Celtic’s third spot with a 1:1 draw against Celtics B, now in the Third Division the Celtics Gold C side took the third spot away from the Barbarians B with their 2:1 in this match (actually Azzurri FC still has one game in the hand and could have gone third without the help of the Celtics). In the first half it looked like the Barbarians B would stay course for winning today with a 0:1 halftime lead by a goal from Claudius (40.) five minutes from halftime. In the second half Celtics Gold’s Andy was the reason for the turn around: he single handed struck twice (78. & 79.) within just two minutes for the final 2:1 Celtics Gold victory over the Barabarians B.
